With my flight to the mother land coming up, my friends coming back from Europe, and having a friend somewhere in Asia...traveling has been on my mind ALOT. Now before I get into this, I understand everyone has different circumstances and its not easy to just go see another part of the world. Trust me...I would be the first one to leave if that was the case! I also am not some travel guru who has been all over but what I have experienced really shaped me into the fine young gent I am today. In future posts Ill tell you guys a little more about my experiences so far but this one I just wanna tell you about a decision that really changed my life.
Traveling is one of those thing I think that everybody should do as much as they can. The idea of going away and exploring is dope until real life smacks the fire out of you. You have to pay a car note, a phone bill, student loans, and you realize shit...I cant go anywhere. In a perfect world, everyone would get up and go backpack around the world for some time before getting that 9-5 society loves to push on us. (also, fried food wouldn't make you fat and Chic-fil-A would be open Sundays but thats neither here nor there) But lets just say that you have some vacation time at work, saved up some money, and are considering going away. This was me 2 years ago when my friends were planning on going to Spain. The first thing that came to mind was yes, second thing was how can I afford this shit or am I bugging, third thing was me wishing that I had a whole lot of money so I can not second guess this. (S/O if you caught that.. classic tune) This was cool and all until I saw that the flight alone was $1200. Idk about you but for a full time college student $1200 for just the flight was a lot considering I'd still have to pay for a place to stay, food, and just extra money to have and enjoy myself. Long story short I had to choose between the financial L or saving that money. YOU KNOW I SPENT THAT BREAD and it was the best shit I could of done. Especially since Im young and don't have TOO many responsibilities I just said fuck it and realized that money comes and goes so why not use it on something like going to another country with your people. There are so many different cultures, lifestyles, food, bruh there is just so much more. Ugh I know I'm sounding like a corny Twitter philosopher right now but this shit is so important and good for you. So for anyone WHO HAS the opportunity but is hesitant because they don't want spend that money... just go for it. It really is good to just catch a different vibe from different environments. BTW that trip was a MOVIE and that is an experience that I will forever have and no one can take that from me. Going away doesn't have to be something extreme like leaving the country...Take a road trip to an amusement park thats a few hours away or go explore neighboring states. Just get up and go see something else if you are able to... who knows you may even find a place you wanna call home one day.
